The Daily Dozen is a great way to keep your training going through the holidays. The Daily Dozen is choosing 12 martial arts techniques and doing them 12 times on each side of your body. Blue belts know dozens of martial techniques, so you can train in different areas each day of the week. Here are some examples based on my training schedule through the years:
Day One
Front punch … 12 with the right hand, 12 with the left hand
Reverse punch … 12 with the right hand, 12 with the left hand
Front palm strike … 12 with the right hand, 12 with the left hand
Reverse palm strike … 12 with the right hand, 12 with the left hand
Snap kick … 12 with the right foot, 12 with the left foot
Thrust kick … 12 with the right foot, 12 with the left foot
Front knife hand … 12 with the right hand, 12 with the left hand
Reverse knife hand … 12 with the right hand, 12 with the left hand
Front hammer fist … 12 with the right hand, 12 with the left hand
Reverse hammer fist … 12 with the right hand, 12 with the left hand
Standing side kick … 12 with the right foot, 12 with the left foot
Stepping side kick … 12 with the right foot, 12 with the left foot
Day Two
Front high block … 12 with the right hand, 12 with the left hand
Reverse high block … 12 with the right hand, 12 with the left hand
Front inside block … 12 with the right hand, 12 with the left hand
Reverse inside block … 12 with the right hand, 12 with the left hand
Standing back kick … 12 with the right foot, 12 with the left foot
Stepping back kick … 12 with the right foot, 12 with the left foot
Standing roundhouse kick … 12 with the right foot, 12 with the left foot
Stepping roundhouse kick … 12 with the right foot, 12 with the left foot
Front outside block … 12 with the right hand, 12 with the left hand
Reverse outside block … 12 with the right hand, 12 with the left hand
Front low block … 12 with the right hand, 12 with the left hand
Reverse low block … 12 with the right hand, 12 with the left hand
If these are the only techniques you know, repeat them every other day. If you know more techniques, add those into your Daily Dozen. The important thing is to train.
