We are so thankful to God to be involved in a ministry that impacts families. The family is at the heart of God’s eternal plan and supporting families is at the heart of Grace Martial Arts.
Martial Arts have captured the imagination of millions of people around the world for thousands of years. Blending God’s eternal message of Faith Defense with Self Defense has truly been a blessing to the many men and women who have dedicated their lives to teaching martial arts from a Christian perspective.
We recently wrote an article that included information about the 30-year history of Grace Martial Arts. We started Grace Martial Arts (GMA) in April 1990 and Grace Martial Arts Fellowship in March 1997.
Our GMA program in Tampa was covered by newspapers and TV stations during a decade of ministry at Seminole Heights Baptist Church. We included a newspaper article from 2007 in our last post that shared some of the experiences of GMA students. Here’s another newspaper article from March 2010 – Fitness classes get a big ‘Amen’.
Great Memories!
We taught in Tampa from 2002 -2014 at several branches of the Tampa Bay Area YMCA, Seminole Heights Baptist Church, Mission Tampa and to dozens of homeschool families. After we moved to Alabama in 2014 several of our students continued the Grace Martial Arts program at a church in Lutz, Florida. We’ve had the privilege of helping teach the classes via Skype and Zoom along with GMA Black Belt instructors who have been with us more than ten years.
We are grateful to Grand Master Robert Xavier for his friendship and partnership in the ministry of Grace Martial Arts. We started Grace Martial Arts Fellowship together in 1997 and have worked on many Christian martial arts projects through the years. GM Xavier leads the GMA program in Bradenton and Sarasota, Florida and has helped tremendously in the development of our program in the Tampa Bay Area. We could not have done this without him.
We thank God for His many blessings during the past 30 years and look forward to many more years to come. It’s exciting to see many students who started in Grace Martial Arts as children who are now teaching as adult Black Belts.
