Tang Soo Do Grand Master David Sgro will be visiting us for a second time this year. Kwan Jang Nim Sgro will be with us in both classes next Monday night (Oct. 18) to train us in self-defense techniques of Tang Soo Do (China Hand Way). I began my own study of Tang Soo Do almost 20 years ago and many of the forms and techniques we learn in Grace Martial Arts come from this amazing Korean martial art.
Grand Master Sgro is a missionary in Guatemala and is coming to Grace Martial Arts to share his love for Jesus Christ, the people of Guatemala, and for Tang Soo Do. You can learn more about Go! Ministries at http://www.goministries.info/index.html. We will be taking a love offering for Grand Master Sgro and Go! Ministries at the end of the first class. Please donate money for Monday night’s classes to GM Sgro and his ministry to the people of Guatemala. You can make checks out to Go! Ministries. All gifts are tax deductible. For those of you who paid ahead for next Monday’s class, I will donate it to Go! Ministries.
Remember what we learned in class last night. Use your legs, hips and waist to turn powerfully as you block and trap an attacker’s grabbing arm, then follow through quickly with punch and kick. Practice for grabs from the front, left side, right side, and back. Work on turning into a strong stance and driving your opponent to his knees with your inside circle block. The goal is to complete the turn, block, trap, punch and kick in less than one second with maximum power.
In Christ’s Love and Grace,
Grace Martial Arts
“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.” (Ephesians 2:8-9, NKJV)
