Greetings! Here is a jpeg of the information we shared with you Monday night. These are the three areas we’re focusing on in our classes about Dealing With Bullies.
Remember to practice the new moves we learned Monday night. We’ll go over them next Monday for anyone who missed this week’s class and also start learning how to throw a bully to the ground if they grab you and won’t let go.
Our Scripture memory verse for this semester is John 14:6 - “Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” Christianity stands alone in the world as the only belief system that leads its true followers to an eternal relationship with God.

Christmas for Orphans and Mayans 2011

Here is a thank-you from Grand Master David Sgro for money raised by Grace Martial Arts for a special Christmas for Orphans and Mayans.
“GO! Ministries and the Sgro family distribute Christmas presents to over 3,000 orphans and Mayans in Santo Domingo, Xenacoj, San Antonio and Rosario, Sac. Guatemala. Thank you to the many Churches, Martial Art Schools, Christian Schools, and individuals who made this possible! Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!”

Dealing With Bullies – 2012

Greetings! I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and are ready for a great new year. The first class of 2012 is Monday, January 2nd, and we’ll be continuing our special emphasis on Dealing With Bullies. Grace Martial Arts is all about children, teens and adults meeting their full potential. Bullying can keep that from happening “unless” we learn how to deal with bullies wisely and effectively. That’s the goal of the next two months of our classes.
Just a reminder that everyone is welcome and classes are free. If you have not received your uniform (also free), please see me Monday night. We have most sizes available now and just put in a new order in case we run out. Please tell your family, friends and neighbors. We want to help people deal with the growing problem of bullying.

Donations for Children in Guatemala

Thanks for your donations to Guatemala Outreach Ministries! Our class has raised more than $220 for extremely poor children living in the mountains of Guatemala. I’ll be sending a check to GM David Sgro this week so he can use the money for medicine and presents for the children this Christmas.

Greetings! Hope you all are having a wonderful week. We have raised almost $100 to help give extremely poor children in Guatemala gifts and medicine for Christmas. If you have been placing coins in plastic bottles for the children, please bring those bottles with you to class next Monday. If you haven’t but would like to make a donation, please bring that with you. I’ll be sending a check to Grand Master Sgro and Guatemala Outreach Ministries next week to help them buy presents and medicine for the children. Their goal is $15,000 to help 4,000 children. They need about $5,600 more to reach that goal before Christmas.

Dealing with Bullies – Dec. 5 and 12

Greetings! We will start our special classes on Dealing with Bullies next Monday. Please invite family and friends to come with you. Bullying is a big problem in our country and we can help children and teens deal with it effectively. Recent surveys show that 3 out of 4 children say they have been bullied in some way. I was bullied as a child and found the confidence to deal with bullies through martial arts.
Our 6pm classes on Dec. 5 and 12 will focus on dealing with bullies. Our 6:45pm classes will focus on rescuing victims from bullies.

Congratulations to everyone who received their new belts and certificates last night! You all did a great job. A special congratulations to our new Black Belts – Jack Fernandez, Kenny Fernandez, and Ben Hunter. Grace Martial Arts has promoted 15 people to Black Belt since starting classes in Tampa in 2002. Most of them have come from the class at Seminole Heights Baptist Church that started in 2005.
For those of you who were at the first testing a week ago but not able to attend last night, you’ll receive your certificate during our next class on December 5th. If you were not able to attend either night of testing, you will be able to test again at the end of February.
Pastor Greg Floyd has invited Grace Martial Arts to make a special presentation this coming Sunday morning at 11am about our class and Christian martial arts. I will introduce everyone from our class who is able to attend. Please bring your belts with you, but no need to wear your uniform.
We will be taking a break for the Thanksgiving holiday, so the next class will be December 5th. Please invite your friends and family to join us for the next class. We’ll be learning how to deal with bullies.

Nov. 14th Testing/Graduation & Guatemala Donation

The testing this coming Monday, Nov. 14th, will include Judo falls (Ukemi). Practice this weekend to remember how to fall back, fall to the side, fall forward, and roll over your shoulder. Be safe during practice. Use a soft surface to practice at first. Protect your head in every fall. Remember to lift your feet, round your back, and slap the floor with your arm extended to absorb some of the shock on your body.
Many of you have already said your Bible verse and Character quality to a Black Belt. If you haven’t, be sure to do that before class Monday.

Fall Testing Schedule for Grace Martial Arts Students

Greetings! Hope you are all doing well and are ready for testing in November. Testing is always a fun time for kids and adults, so we’re excited that it’s almost here!
For those of you who can attend the 6pm class this Monday, Oct. 31, we will review what you’ll need to know for your test, including blocks, escapes, strikes, kicks, and basic falls. Black Belt candidates in the 6:45pm class will work on knife and gun defenses.
Testing will begin for everyone at 6pm on Nov. 7th, with Black Belt candidates testing at 6:45pm.
Testing will end for everyone at 7pm on Nov. 14th, followed by graduation.
Testing also includes saying your Bible verses to one of the Grace Martial Arts Black Belts, along with the Christian Character Qualities. You’ll find those listed here.
